Yes! During registration, you can choose to sign up as an individual or join a team. Once a team has been created, it will be available for other participants to join as well. The first person to create the team automatically becomes the team captain. Team registration is just for fun!
Teams with 20+ registered members by 8/29/22 will have their team name printed on the back of their shirts!
Teams with 50+ registered members by 8/29/22 will get their team name on their shirts PLUS the use of a 10’ x 10’ pop-up, 8′ table, and two chairs as a meeting area on walk-day!
Teams of any size are encouraged to create a theme and show their spirit at the event! Get creative with matching socks, tutus, hats, sashes, signs, etc. We just ask that out of respect for our participating ovarian cancer survivors and want them to stand out in their teal shirts, teams refrain from creating their own teal-colored shirts. We appreciate your understanding. Now go get creative!
Yes! You can donate to the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego or create your own fundraising page. Here are some helpful articles to get you started!
We walk to raise much-needed funds to support the community outreach programs of the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of San Diego. These outreach programs are aimed at raising awareness of ovarian cancer, the most lethal gynecologic cancer. Currently, there is no screening test for the early detection of ovarian cancer, and the overall 5-year survival rate is only 45%. However, when detected early, the survival rate is over 90%! Funds raised at this event will be used to support education and outreach to the general public, civic groups, organizations, and medical healthcare providers throughout San Diego County. In addition to supporting our primary educational outreach program HEAR, we are continuing our successful program to provide financial support to Medical Fellows at UCSD School of Medicine with an emphasis on gynecological oncology.
All entry fees are NONREFUNDABLE, NONTRANSFERABLE and NONDEFERRABLE.
Yes. We request that anyone participating with a jogging stroller stage at the back of the pack.
We are asking participants to be responsible for their safety and the safety of others, by not attending the event and instead becoming a virtual participant if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
