2021 Event Update

2021 Carlsbad is going virtual. We had hoped that the new year would bring races back to the road and that by now we’d have clarity on when large-scale events will be allowed to resume, but unfortunately we do not. Simply put, we cannot plan the caliber of event we’re known for in this uncertain climate and with such a short timeline. Our new virtual race will feature the same great swag Carlsbad is known for, but with special pricing.
We are emailing options to the currently registered participants and new virtual pricing will be available in Events.com as of today.
Despite these unprecedented times, we’re looking ahead to 2021 and are excited to share what we have in store! We’ve got beautiful SWAG in the works for Carlsbad, a new middle event for the Triple Crown series, and an epic Triple Crown celebration planned at 2021 America’s Finest City Half Marathon and 5K in August to commemorate our return to the road and our 2021 series champions.
We hope you’ll stick with us and support our events virtually until we can cross a start line again in person.

We don’t yet know what the event landscape will look like, but we are moving full speed ahead to bring you an in-person Carlsbad!
You can count on us to keep you updated as the situation evolves, but in the meantime we want to offer you a registration solution that gives you peace of mind.
Should Carlsbad be unable to take place in person as planned, we will be offering our registered participants a choice of one of the following options:
- Option 1 – switch to a virtual participant of the Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon, Double Down or Surf Sun Run 5K (required option for series participants*)
- Option 2 – defer your entry to the 2022 Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon, Double Down or Surf Sun Run 5K
